In writing we are working on an adjective pizza. The students are learning that an adjective is a describing word. This week we are making an adjective pizza so the students will be able to use these words when they start their descriptive writing next week.

me a message(text message). Simply send a text to the number located on the red sheet that was sent home this week. Answer the two questions and then you are signed up! Anytime you need to send me a message or ask a question just text that number and it shows up with your name and your question. Check it out!    https://www.portfoliyo.org/

Have you added Dreambox to your home computer? It is like Scootpad but more interactive for students. A sheet was sent home this week explaining how to get it setup at home. If you need another copy of the signup sheet for portfolio   send me a text message asking for another one!

Thank you to the families that have donated supplies this year!

Homework Procedure:                                                     Every student should be reading 20 minutes a night. The reading log must come back every day signed! Please make sure it is placed inside the red folder. Look for the first reading log on Monday!

Homework:

Homework Procedure

In order to keep all of our work organized we need to have a specific homework procedure in First Grade. Each student will receive a red take home folder with two pockets. One pocket is for things that are to stay at home (handouts, finished work, Highlights), and the other pocket is for things that need to be returned the next day (homework, permission slips).

Every student will get a homework packet and a reading log on Monday. Everyday the students will need to return the reading log section of the homework. On the back of the reading log are high frequency words that should be practiced every night along with reading. The homework packet will include practice work and a mini book that can be read at home. The homework packet can be done at the parents’ discretion and is due every Friday.

Students must complete their reading log every night and parents/ guardians must sign it every night in order for the students to get credit.
