2b has been extremely busy these last two weeks. Last week the whole school celebrated peace week. During the week we talk about ways that we could be peaceful and what each of us could do to make and keep peace in the world. Even though we talked about it in school, ask your child what you could do as a family to be peaceful.
Look what we have done this week:
Math:
We have started learning about coins, how much they are worth, adding coins together, and making change. At home you can help your child by asking them to make change or having them count change in a store to pay for something.
Reading:
This week we have read the last story in our unit about creative ideas. We read the story Weed is a Flower. This story was about one of America's famous scientists, George Washington Carver.
Writing:
We have started writing workshop. For the first story we are writing about ourselves. We have learned the steps how to brainstorm and working on our 1st dafts.
Social Studies:
We have added three more states to the list of states we are learning. This Wednesday we will be making our own globe out of paper mache. This will be a messy but fun acitivity.
Please remember that homework is the child's work. It is intended to be independent work and used as an assessment of what they have learned in class. We also use it to let us know if we need to reteach a skill. Again, I appreciate your support!
