Eighth Grade (8b) Class of 2010 Dear Eighth Grade Students and Parents, Welcome to your 8th grade school year! As you know, this is the last year of your Highlander Charter School experience. As the new leaders of the school there will be a lot expected from you. You will find that you will be expected to study harder and longer than you did in the seventh grade. This year you want to prepare yourself for the rigors of high school by focusing on: ✔ Being Ready to work hard ✔ Making Smart Choices ✔ Challenging yourself to learn new and exciting things! ✔ Doing your best!

- Call all private schools you are interested in and request an application packet.

Classical Test Information: Students taking the Classical Test on Sunday should bring two #2 pencils, a snack, and a clear head! No calculators are allowed. Please drop your child off directly to Classical and have them there by 8:15am. The test begins at 8:30 am. Students will be finished between 12:30 and 1:00pm. Please make arrangement so pick them up at that time. November -Study for the ISEE, SSAT, and Parochial school tests. -Register for the parochial school test (12/5) – a registration form will be included in the admissions and information packet. -Call independent schools you are interested in and set up an appointment to spend a whole day at that school. - Parochial school applications due before the December test (12/5) - School One has rolling admissions- turn in applications and financial aid forms as soon as possible! December -Call private schools and inquire about financial aid forms and deadlines -Apply to Providence public school magnet programs -Applications for all private schools should be completed at this time (applications are accepted late in the year but your best bet is to get them in NOW!) -12/5/09- Saturday, Parochial school test. Go to your 1st choice parochial school (8:00am-12:00pm) Bring a snack! -12/5/09, Saturday, ISEE TESTING (8:00am) -12/12/09, Saturday SSAT Testing (9:00 am) January -Classical will inform families of acceptance decisions. -Call Independent schools for information on their scholarship tests February -Financial aid forms are due at the beginning of the month. -Most private school application deadlines in this month-- get them in early! March -Most private schools will inform families of acceptance decisions and will host open campus days to help students make a decision.
