SEVENTH GRADE
Students took their first test of the year. The graded tests went home on Friday. Students mususe their notes to find the correct answers to any question they did not answer correctly as well as have the test signed by a parent.
EIGHTH GRADE
Supreme Court Chief Justice Impressed with 8th Grade Civics Knowledge!
The biggest news here is that the Chief Justice of the RI Supreme Court visited our class on Friday, Sept. 16 in honor of Constitution Day! He was joined by Judge Howard Lipsey (Family Court) and Donna LaMontague, a RI lawyer instrumental in getting the state on board with ICivics (www.icivics.org).
It was wonderful to see the students really show what they have learned. Even Chief Justice Suttell couldn't get a fast one on them. When asked who could name RI's delegates to the Constitutional Convention...Ben correctly answered, "RI didn't send any." WAY TO GO 8TH GRADE! Check out a vide of the visit below.
The first test of the year is on Sept. 21. See the study sheet below.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
7th/8th Grade Progress Reports
Progress reports are a great way to keep the lines of communication open between home and school. PR's keep you informed of assignments and test scores and your child's participation in class. We hope you will anticipate, review and sign your child's PR consistently and use it as a discussion tool with your child so as to prevent “surprises” when Narratives come out at the end of each semester.
Here is the schedule of biweekly dates (Fridays) when the 7th/8th Grade Team will send progress reports home with your child.

Middle School Homework Policy:Any missing assignment during a given week will be made up over the weekend, due the following Monday. If the work is not completed, the student will mandatorily stay after-school for homework detention from 3-4 p.m. or 4-5 p.m. if the student is part of a tutoring session from 3-4.
Extra Credit Policy: I do not offer Extra Credit. I expect that all students manage the work assigned in class throughout the quarter. Every 2 weeks (progress reports) is an opportunity to bolster grades you may not be satisfied with.
MIDDLE SCHOOL LATENESS POLICY: School begins at 8:30. 8:31 = LATE. You must stop at the office for a late pass.3 Lateness passes to school = 1 absence AND AFTER-SCHOOL DETENTION, THURSDAY 3:15-5.
