Afterschool: Lower School

About us…

The Highlander after school program provides Highlander students with safe, exciting, high quality after school programming. The after school program runs 5 days a week and serves students in Pre-k through 6th grade.

Highlander Afterschool students spend one hour each afternoon on academic enrichment programming. This hour focuses on providing additional supports to students. A focus on helping students achieve their highest potential means that the Highlander Afterschool program may or may not be helping students with their daily homework. And while we aim to serve our students by providing a safe and secure after school learning environment, it is not the responsibility of the Program to provide homework help everyday.

Routine:

Afterschool Social Time (2:30-3pm): Students are group by grades, enjoy a snack and prepare to transition to the Academic Enrichment Time, on days with good weather students will go outside for recess.

Academic Enrichment (3-4pm): Each student is required to attend Academic Enrichment in order to participate in the activity period. Afterschool Students Should not be picked up during this time.

Activity Period (4-5pm): Students will have the opportunity to participate in various Age-Appropriate activities designed to improve their physical, social and emotional well-being…while having a ton of fun!!! Students will pre-select their activities during registration period and will participate in them Monday-Thursday for the entire 7 week session. Fridays will be filled with fun activities. modeled after the freedom Schools, Fridays incorporate special events, guest speaker…and much more.

Dismissal (5-5:30pm): Activity period is over at 5pm, and students return to homeroom to wait for pickup. Designated pick-up adult must be listed on the afterschool registration form.

If a child is picked up after 5:30pm three times, they will be dismissed from the Highlander Afterschool Program until next Session Begins.

Session Fee:

Over the past few years, we have worked hard to keep afterschool fees extremely low. While affordability is still important, the Highlander after school program will not be receiving the same amount of federal aid as in the past.

In order to offer high quality programming, we are asking families to make a monetary commitment, each session will cost $150 per student; PreK fee is $50 a week.

Limited financial aid is available upon request.  If financial aid is needed, please ask Ms. Tatiana for an application.

To sign up simply complete and return application with session fee. Students will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

*Students who have a previous balance will not be permitted to participate until their balance is paid in full.
