Read to Succeed

Read to Succeed was created to address the achievement gap head-on. By encouraging the crucial activity of summer reading, this innovative program helps students to keep from falling behind in their quest for learning.  It opens the dream of attending college for students with real investments in their future.

At Highlander, students are given a broad list of books to choose for reading over the summer.  They must read and pass a test on 6 of them and upon completion, they receive a $1,000 scholarship in the form of RI Collegebound fund accounts.  Students can participate for 5 consecutive years giving them quite a jump on their future!

To date Read to Succeed has awarded 0ver $650,000 in scholarships to our students.  Many of them have participated for 5 years!
