8th Grade Semi Formal Dance

This year's 8th grade dance was held on Saturday May 21 from 6-9 pm at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Providence (across the street from the Providence Place Mall) Heartfelt thanks to Kathie Middlemiss who chaired this event and made it a magical night under the stars for our 8th graders. Thanks also goes out to Laura Rizzotti, April Ramos, Louise Berry and Jorge Acosta for making the night memorable for the kids.

Million Minute Reading Challenge

High FIVE has challenged the Highlander students to read 1,000,000 minutes by the end of the school year. The students were asked to keep a log of all minutes read during the week. There were incentives along the way as the students reached goals. Look for the caterpillar in the school that measured the students progress. We are so close! We are at the 994,000 minute mark!! WOOOHOOO!! Come to the next High FIVE meeting to help plan the celebration for hitting 1,000,000 minutes! The Million Minute Finale be on Monday June13. It will start with a Rally in the morning and a Movie Day for the kids. K-2 will watch Matilda, 3-6 will watch Diary of a Wimpy Kid and 7-8 will watch The Princess Bride. All of the movies that were chosen started out as incredible books! We are looking for volunteers to help us that day. If you are available please let us know!!
